Reports - Financial - Statement of Indirect Rates

Overview

This report provides a breakdown of the indirect cost calculations that tie back to the general ledger transactions.

Note: If your system has multi-entity accounting enabled (see Setup Multi-Entity), then this report will reflect those multi-legal entity cost pools.

Report Columns

• Account
  • Arranged by Cost Pool Hierarchy (defined in Admin > Setup > Accounting > Account > Edit - Profile tab)
  • Includes all accounts of type EXPENSE that have transactions in the General Ledger for the report's Legal Entity with the post date within YTD.  
  • • YTD is defined as [ the first day of the Fiscal Year that contains the Fiscal Period the user chose in the Search Page ] through [ the end of the Fiscal Period the user chose in the Search Page ].
  • Includes all accounts listed as Post Accounts in the Cost Pool Group (defined in Admin > Setup > Accounting > Cost Pool Group Edit > Cost Pool Edit > Pool or Base).
• Organization - optional column, shown only if  "Show Organizations" is checked in the Search page. Values include:
  • all organizations for which postings were found in GL for the accounts included in the report
  • all organizations from the pool calculations for the accounts included in the report
• Amount
  • Sum of (debit - credit) from the general ledger for the accounts listed in the previous column for YTD
  • Drill Down Note:  The value in this field can be clicked on to display the GL Details that contributed to this entry. Note: If your system has multi-entity accounting enabled (see Setup Multi-Entity) and you are reporting on a multi-entity cost pool group, then Show Organizations in Reporting Options must be checked in order to drill down.
• Pool, Base, Allocation - these three columns will be included for each Pool defined in the Cost Pool Group ((defined in Admin > Setup > Accounting > Cost Pool Group Edit )
  • Pool - this represents costs incurred by the company and posted to the General Ledger that need to be allocated. Calculated as the sum of amounts collected by the Cost Pool Calculation process for each account listed as Account in the Pool section of the Cost Pool definition (defined in Admin > Setup > Accounting > Cost Pool Group Edit > Cost Pool Edit ).
  • Base - this represents the "weight factor" we will use to allocate the costs identified for this pool. Calculated as follows:
    • Basis Method - Actual Amount or Hours - sum of amounts collected by the Cost Pool Calculation process for each account listed as Account in the Base section of the Cost Pool definition (defined in Admin > Setup > Accounting > Cost Pool Group Edit > Cost Pool Edit ). Should be displayed as currency or number respectively.
    • Basis Method - Fixed Amount or Percent - static values captured by the Cost Pool Calculation process for each account listed as Post Account in the Base section of the Cost Pool definition (defined in Admin > Setup > Accounting > Cost Pool Group Edit > Cost Pool Edit ). Should be displayed as currency or percent respectively.
  • Allocation - this represents the result of us allocating the costs based on the "weight factor" defined in Base. Calculated as:
    • the sum of Allocation Amounts by the Cost Pool Calculation process for each account listed as Post Account in the Base section of the Cost Pool definition (defined in Admin > Setup > Accounting > Cost Pool Group Edit > Cost Pool Edit ).
    • the negated sum of amounts collected by the Cost Pool Calculation process for each account listed as Post Account in the Pool section of the Cost Pool definition (defined in Admin > Setup > Accounting > Cost Pool Group Edit > Cost Pool Edit ). This is necessary since essentially, the Cost Pool Calculation process is gathering costs already posted to the General Ledger and redistributing them into other accounts in the General Ledger. To prevent the same cost from being counted twice, we also create a negating transaction into GL. That is represented in this calculation.
• Used in Pool - max value shown in any of the pool columns
• Used in Base - max value shown in any of the base columns

• Not Used - value shown in the Amount column minus max of Used in Pool and Used in Base. If there was no value in the Amount column, this should also be empty.

Totals

• Grand Total - sum up values in all numeric columns except Allocation
• Rate - show rates calculated by the Cost Pool Calculation process for each pool. These values are displayed in the Base column for each pool.
